I have an old genoa which has been cut down and reshape several time which makes it about 130%. The question is should I get a new sail about the same size or increase its size to say 150%. Any thoughts and past experience would be welcome.
I have a mac wight mk11 with 4ft bow sprit.

That is certainly food for thought. Whilst what they are offering is expensive. I have seen a number of yachts with two furling’s and if one is set up with a downwind sail and the other for up-wind or storm it is going to cover most cruising situations.

Hello I recently change my verry verry old main sail for a brand new one. The size was calculate by he sailmaker on th boat, he did’nt care about the size of the old one. As he explained canvas have changed, shapes are determined by computer etc… I payed for this main sail (+/- 14m²) 850€. I can tell you that my boat win more than 1.5Kn at the sames directions than before.
The real question is what are the conditions (winter/summer) of the most time you are sailing. A fine sailmaker is abble to optimize the exact genoa for your boat and for the ay you use it. In my mind the % is not the good question, don’t you? ASFAR Pont-Aven France
