I have a Mac26 with bowsprit added and the main forestay/roller Genoa running from the masthead to the forward end of the bowsprit. There is also an inner forestay fitted from about half way up the mast to around roughly where the anchor winch is and attached also to the rear of the bowsprit. This inner forestay feels very taut and I’m wondering if it is structural re the mast-the boat is almost impossible to tack without the Genoa getting caught up on the inner stay!Any thoughts on removing /detaching to make life easier?TIA.

    Good morning

you need a local rigger to check this out

as it is not a standard rig

is there a bowsprit tensioner down to

    the stem

I have the same arrangement on Cathy. As Chris says you will need to get it checked out on your boat, but mine is tensioned on the genoa stay allowing the inner front stay to be released. When not in use I keep the inner stay tensioned, but when sailing I release the inner stay at deck level and bring it back to mast so making tacking the genoa easier.

Does your bowsprit have a Bobstay to counter the upward force?

    All the best

    Peter
