Hi . Could someone tell me the size of the mattresses on a Macwester 27 please. I bought my boat last September and am looking to custom made new mattresses made for the whole boat. Leather is too cold in the winter and too sticky in summer. Currently no where near my boat to measure. Thanks in advance for answers

Morning. The only way to get new cushions for your boat is to be there with an upholsterer. They will measure everything in situ because boat cushions/mattresses are such odd shapes. Alternatively, you could do what we did. We bought a good quality plain foam mattress. Once it had expanded to the full thickness, we laid the old bed cushions on top (on the landing stage) and then drew round them and cut the foam ourselves to the correct shapes needed.

    Hi

Whilst we had ours taylor made by Shipshape and would think twice to recommend as they were expensive, their method of sizing might be worth using.

They provided us with strong brown wrapping paper which we were asked to place flat across the bed floor and cut out to size. We were then asked at 0.5m intervals to measure the extra width required to shape the cushions to the sloping sides of the boat and write the measurement on the paper at each location. Also to draw lines on the paper were a split in the cushions was required. I assume the paper templates were used to both measure out the foam and the cloth covering.

Let us know how you got on. Peter

Another way would be to make a template using cardboard and take that to a foam cutter and / or uphosterer.

If my Macwester 26 is anything to go by, the mattresses are not rectangles but curvy.
