Hello, I joined this forum minutes ago. I want to buy a macwester 32 sloop. At this moment two boats are availlable here. Saw one wich was nice, and will visit the other macwester soon.
Are there specific points that are important, any weaknesses or things to look after so I can make the right decision?
I will buy the boat with a friend who is experienced sailer (on clippers).

    Any thoughts welcome

    Hi there.
Check for any crazing in the gel coat around corner and stress areas on the deck.
Check for rust streaks (a lot of these boats only had galvanised fixings).
Check for oil leaks uder the engine,
Is the anodising coming off the mast(s)?
Does the rigging look tatty? It may be galvanised and not stainless steel.
Check gas pipes – are they discoloured with green? Are they quarter or 10 mm?
The old quarter pipes are too old to be serviceable.
Check fueltanks – some of the old ones were made with mild steel. These would need replacing.
Is the general look of the boat good?
    Hope this helps,
    Chris
