Graham PostlethwaiteParticipantHello Charles,
My brother and I fitted your choice of auto pilot to our Wight Mk1 which also has heavy steering, it works great. We recently ran from Kirkcudbright to Barrow in Furness in westerlies 20k to 24kt and a very lumpy sea with half genoa and mizzen and engine at 1000 rpm. We just sat back under our doghouse and took in the view aft with ocassional checks forward and going below on the hour to log our position. It was too rough to boil the kettle (but we had a flask) and the auto pilot ran faultlessly keeping us on track. We only took it off line on our approach to Barrow and its buoyed channel – 09:30 to 21:00 run.
Graham PostlethwaiteParticipantMany thanks Rob for a full and helpful reply to my query. Will look at the reference areas you have highlighted and decide what we need to do.
Graham PostlethwaiteParticipantJust looked at the FloGas website https://www.flogas.co.uk/ they say they have more depots across the country than any other lpg supplier if true you should be ok. Also have a good variety of bottle sizes available.

Graham PostlethwaiteParticipantFollowing Paul’s suggestion I bought a few meters of expanded neoprene cord, after trying a few thicknesses I settled on the 8mm size – had a 1m length which would probably be sufficient for 3 portlights. Used super glue and “tacked” it around and on the existing “compressed” seal and has been perfect.
Got mine from http://www.hilltop-products.co.uk
